User Experience

Role: UX Designer

Platform: SwyftUI

Timeline: Oct 2021 - April 2022

Goal

To explore how design knowledge can come to life through code — transforming abstract usability concepts into a tangible, interactive experience using SwiftUI.

Apple Scholarship Winner 2020

WWDC Swift Student Challenge Submission

This project was my second submission for the WWDC Swift Student Challenge — and my very first time exploring SwiftUI. Coming from a background in design and research, coding felt like stepping far outside my comfort zone. But I loved the challenge of building something interactive and genuinely useful for others to experience.

Overview

In “User Experience,” you’ll help a team of developers improve the flawed design of a food delivery app using Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) — all in just one minute! It’s a fast, engaging way to see how thoughtful design principles can transform user experiences.

Development Week

  • Fri, 8 – Research and analysis of past projects 🔍
  • Sat, 9 – Ideation and feedback from fellow programmers 💡
  • Sun, 10 – More research, exploring the tools 💻
  • Mon, 11 – Realized the first idea was too complex — back to research 🤿
  • Tue, 12 – New concept and start of development 🚧
  • Wed, 13 – Mentorship session and continued development 👨🏻‍🏫
  • Thu, 14 – User testing and iteration 👀
  • Fri, 15 – Bug fixing, polish, and submission to WWDC! 
  • Sat, 16 – Uploaded the project to GitHub 🥁
  • Sun, 17 – Produced the demo video and final updates 🎬

What Are the Human Interface Guidelines?

The Human Interface Guidelines are Apple’s framework for creating intuitive, consistent, and visually coherent app experiences. They cover everything from iconography and layout to motion and interaction design — shaping the seamless feel across all Apple products.

Installation

To try “User Experience” yourself, download the zipped .playgroundbook file and open it in Swift Playgrounds 3.4.1 or later on macOS.
